Greetings from Redding California-Hitch hiking home!

Aloha from Redding California (I'll explain later),
I pray all of you had a wonderful holiday. After being off for a few days, I know all of you are ready and hungry to do lots of school work. :)
First, 4 Typing Tests and give the avg. to the Sub, have her write them down next to your name on the attendance sheet.
Next, I want you to make a very simple PowerPoint presentation. I want to see how well you know PowerPoint. (If you know how to use PowerPoint great! If not well then you might want to partner up with someone who does and watch them first before you start your own. Please stay on task. Keep in mind you are now using Office 2003 and this PowerPoint is little bit different then Office XP, but those of you who have used PowerPoint before you should have no problem.)
The PowerPoint presentation is going to be on your favorite subject. It could be on: cars, games, horses, dogs, cats, anything that you really like. But keep in mind; it has to be all about one subject. (Hint: Maybe the same subject as those websites you shared with the class a few weeks ago.)
1. Has to be 15-20 slides.
2. Each Slide has to include, at least one photograph, an explanation of each photograph (no less then 10 words no more then 25 words.
3. Each slide must have at least one animation, and one sound. (Keep is simple, yet meaningful)
4. The PowerPoint presentation must be coherent.
5. We will be sharing these in class on this Friday.
6. Remember this is just to see how much you know about PowerPoint. So if you want, impress me, if not then don't worry about perfection.

This project won't be due until Friday December 3, 2004 but if you finish early today you may use that time as a study hall or free-on task-time in the PC Lab. Have fun.

See you tomorrow.
Mr. G

Greetings Everyone I miss you all already.

1. Please do four Typing Tests and give the avg. to the Sub, have her write them down next to your name on the attendance sheet.
2. After you finish that please go to http://www.w3schools.com/ and please take a few minutes to review some of the things you think you are not sure on and then retake yet another HTML Quiz. Please have the sub come by and check your score and have her write it down next to your name, on the attendance sheet.
3. After you have taken the quiz. And Aced it!
4. Please give yourself a big pat on the back. Nice job!
5. Next we need to finish installing some vital programs on the Lab computers in order to complete the upgrade. This will probably only need to be done on computers. (JR-WXP-206-thru-228, the Dell’s might already have these programs installed, just make sure.)

6. Note: After clicking on each link below, Windows will ask if you want to Run or Save the program download. Make sure you click Save and then run it from the saved location once downloaded.

a. Acrobat Reader 6.0 -http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/win/3.x/rs16e301.exe

b. Apple QuickTime - http://a1540.g.akamai.net/7/1540/52/20041101/qtinstall.info.apple.com/pthalo/us/win/QuickTimeFullInstaller.exe

c. Macromedia Flash -http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

7. After all of these programs have been downloaded and installed, please check to make sure each computer has Spybot – search and destroy, and Adaware Personal Edition installed as well.
8. After you have verified all these programs have been installed. You may use the rest of the time, if any, and search appropriate websites as down time. Nice job!

Greetings my Fellow Computer Friends!

1. Please have those people who didn’t finish sharing their four websites with the class share and explain their sites. Don’t start the typing practice until after that has been done.
2. 4 Typing Tests and give the avg. to the Sub, have her write them down next to your name on the attendance sheet.
3. After you finish that please go to www.w3schools.com and take yet another HTML Quiz. Please have the sub come by and check your score and have her write it down next to your name, on the attendance sheet.
4. After you have taken the quiz. And Aced it! (Please Lord help them to have actually studied this time and learned the stuff...:-))
5. Please go to this link and read through all of the topics in this section. http://www.w3schools.com/site/default.asp (Web HOME/Web Building/Web WWW/Web Design/Web Users/Web Standards/Web Validation/Web W3C/Web Security/Web Glossary/Web Search/Web Awards)
6. After you have finished reading all the sections please go and take a 8 minute break. Please come back and don't be late. :) Please let the Sub know you are done with the first section and need a break.
7. When you come back please go to this website http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/topten/ and write down the top ten virus around today. Please give me a brief description of how each virus is spread, and what it does if you get it on your computer, how it lives in the host computer, and what steps do you have to take to fix or rid the computer of it. This is your homework due on Wednesday. Please do not print this assignment out. I want you to post your answer on your own blog in a new post. And comment on this post with the hyperlink to your new post/blog. Put it in an easy to read and understand, pretend the most novice user will read it. If you finish this before class is over, you may have some free time to browse the internet on appropriate websites. :)
